A Lovely Donation…

I had the extraordinary pleasure today to speak and meet with Ann Cossar, who came to me today to donate some books on varying Aboriginal topics, and two very beautiful Aboriginal Vases.

Ann brought these items on behalf of her good friend Taimi Henderson of Peterborough, who wished for these books to be donated to PNLP.

On behalf of the staff and students of PNLP…

Taimi, thank you so so much for the books and the vases, they are beautiful and I know our students and staff will enjoy them.

Ann, thank you so very much for bringing them to us and for the lovely chat

Donations needed

Aaniin (Hello),

My name is Jason Gilbert and I am the Administrative Assistant for the Peterborough Native Learning Program (PNLP).   PNLP is a nonprofit organization offering:

  • FREE Literacy Services to Adults age 19 and older, which include:
    • Classes in the City and County of Peterborough, Curve Lake and Lakefield
    • Certified teachers available at each site
    • An inclusive, supportive, inviting environment
    • Continuous intake of clients
    • Training Supports for qualifying clients
    • Welcomes Native and Non-Native Adults
  • FREE Digital Skills Upgrading-Computer Basics
  • FREE Upgrading- Math, Reading, Writing
  • FREE Grade 12 equivalency/GED preparation
  • FREE Resume Writing services
  • FREE Course Materials and instruction provided
  • FREE Portfolio Building

As you can see, the PNLP offers a number of Free courses for students who wish to upgrade/update their skills for life and the workplace.   Whether students are working to continue their education to better themselves, working to complete their GED preparation in time for the final exam or to enhance their work skills;  We are here to help!

Over the years Peterborough Native Learning Program is proud to have:

  • Received its core funding from the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, City of Peterborough funding
  • Privately funded by KM Hunter Charitable Foundation.
  • Maintained its head office in the Peterborough Square
  • Satellite Offices in downtown Lakefield and in Curve Lake First Nation Employment Resource Centre
  • Been in operation since 1994

While this funding is extremely helpful in providing these services to students, sometimes they fall short and do not cover all of our costs for these students.  PNLP provides nutritious snacks at no cost to the students, coffee, tea, water and juices.  We would also like to offer courses that the government funding cannot cover which the students have asked for.

This is where you come in, PNLP is in need of donations to assist with these expenses. We have set up a donation page through Canadahelps.org.   For every 10 dollar donation we will provide a Tax Receipt.
